I have an 85 riviera with a radio and 11 cd changer from a new gm truck installed and because of this I want to keep it because I bought it like this and it had a good amount invested in it already. I have alpines all around but i would like to add subwoofers could i do this I have installed alot of car sound systems in the past but I alwasys just used the preout on the aftermarket radio to run to the subs so how would I go about installing this with my stock radio?

If your using a stock headunit then you won't get as much out of the subs. I've tried installing a subwoofer using my stock headunit and wasn't pleased at all. Then I changed to a aftermarket headunit and what a difference it made.

If you do go this route I would get an amp that has a remote that is not a bass boost but a remote gain control so you can control the output of your sub, otherwise you will have to use the bass/treble control on the stock hu and this will effect the door speakers and also send upper freq to your sub even with the subs crossover you will notice the upper bass coming through as you turn up the bass on the HU.
