It's prohibited in the States, but it's not technically a controlled substance like weed or most other drugs.

It tastes horrible...but YMMV.

I was under the impression it was just illegal to sell in the states but not to have or drink? Too expensive though anyways for what it supposedly does. You'd be better off finding a mushroom hookup (err.. I mean of course flying to amsterdam //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) for that kind of trip. Cheaper and better.

you're acually right, its only illegal to buy or sell. Other than that, do what yo want with it

I've heard it has some kind of heroine derivative in it. I've tried it and its absolutely disgusting, tastes like a shot of gasoline. Friends who have taken 5 or more shots in one night say they feel a buzz different than just alcahol, but they ususaly end up violently ill

If you are drinking absinthe for some sort of hallucinating effect then you are going to be really disappointed. The only real difference between absinthe and the beverages I drink (pernod, ouzo, raki etc.) is a miniscule amount of wormwood (containing thujone) that is less than half of what was in the oriignal absinthe that was being made 100 years ago. If you do somehow get ahold of the stronger stuff, you also have to realize wormwood is a toxin which has been used as a natural pesticide for centuries.

If you do choose to still get some, you most likely hate the taste since it is anise based. Think of nyquil watered down with vodka and you have a rough idea of the taste. I always mix my pernod down with coke because it is horrible if you take it straight; it's bitter and makes you gag. You don't acquire a taste for it, and you don't take shots of it. It is meant to be drunk slowly over the course of an evening.

I don't think your supposed drink it straight. There is some kind if rititual where u melt it down over a sugar cube or something. http://www.erowid.org will have any information on substances u need info on.

Yes, the classic way is to get slowly drip cold water over a sugar cube that is suspended over the absinthe. Trust me, the taste doesn't get much better when watered down like that.

if you get ahold of a can of pro pest spray you will find it just slight varies from gasoline so i can believe that they throw some wormwood in pesticide
