I second the mag.. and the amps you are looking at are all the shit of the shit amps.. its like buy a 74 plymouth acclaim.. not worth it just b/c it will break within the month..

I don't have an amp just yet, i was going to buy one based on how much RMS i needed. i've had fairly similar experiences with good amps and with crappy amps so im not as worried about that.

Personally, I would place a cap of ~$150 on a driver. Since you have capped your amp price at the same, that leaves $200. So, $100 for a good quality box and $100 for install and cabling.

Parts Express has a couple of good sounding units that are worth looking at:

thanks for the feedback...the 150 isnt a hard fixed number. since i am going to build the box myself, i can't imagine it would cost more than $50 so that does leave a little more room on the driver and amp.
