? about my alt

I finally got my HO Alt from Excessive Amperage installed. I noticed the lights on my car get noticably brighter when my car is running at a higher rpm than when it is idling. And its not like I have to push the gas to the floor to notice the difference, just a light touch and they brighten up. I just need to know if this is normal, or are my lights running off the battery and my alt is only turning on when my rpm's go up past idle speed.

Its normal, your car probably idles very low like mine and the alt doesnt cut on at that low of an RPM.

to fix that, cant you just put a smaller pully on the alt.?

Yeah, or I could put my current pulley on a lathe and grind it down a bit. I don't need that much smaller of a pulley because my engine idles around 710-725, and my alt is supposed to turn on at 750. I'm thinking of just buying a yellow top.
