? about inverted subs

i am about to install 3 kicker cvx 12s and i was wondering what everyone thought of inverted subs, do you believe they perform as well, or are as efficiant as a non inverted sub?

Makes no differance besides saving displacment of the sub in the box...

Polarity doesn't need to be reversed. As long as you don't have the subs out of phase, it doesn't matter.

You can lose some cone area by inverting your subs, but it's pretty minimal.

Polarity can be changed even if the sub is mounted "normally" - sometimes, having the polarity reversed from where you think it should be is the key to having the sub disappear, location-wise...

In that case, make sure the polarity of the one you're mounting normally is 180 degrees out of phase. Otherwise, you'll get cancellation.

It will make your subs hit deeper, lose a little punchiness, and have less power handling.

I had 2 memphis m3's on 1,000 watts and I could tell a significant diff. in the way they sounded inverted.

I actually over excurted them and the spider separated from the basket.

Be careful they're easier to overpower id you fad them in a proper box before

Actually no, there is no difference. The only difference would be that if you accounted for the ~.1 or ~.2 cubic feet the driver takes up in the box and made it, then decided to invert it, otherwise it is exactly the same. You may get more mechanical noise with them inverted however.

I guess what I meant was in any given enclosure, inverting will give you more low bass extension, and more effifiency.

If you are borb=derline with them in traditionally and invert them you can damage your moofs.

Difference in cone area is minimal.

My M3's sounded a little louder inverted so cone area is irrelevent in most cases.

well these will be in a sealed box, and as for mechanical noise, i shouldnt hear any because it will be in the back of a suv at least 8 ft fom my ear lol and thanks for all the input!
