I wanna say bass boost? IIRC my 1800db was a bass boost and that's just the lower model.

i think you might be right. when i adjust the knob the difference from all the way down to all the way up is really not much.

1st clue is when u turn it all the way down there should be almost no output if its a true gain knob.
