How should this problem be solved?

Suppose, for a moment, that you had a bathtub sitting in your bathroom. You want to make sure that this bathtub is always full of hot water. Unfortunately, this bathtub has several leaks. You are also running out of hot water in your house. What is the wisest approach?

We'll see if someone can spot the analogy.

Learn to take a cold bath, because even if you fix the leaks in your bathtub the hot water is still runnin out in your house.
Now that's a clever response. Suppose you absolutely need to have the bath tub full of hot water, though. In this weird theoretical world, there is simply no way for us to bath in cold water (shrinky dink ftl).

In that case...Fix the leaks, insulate the tub, steal your neighbors hot water

and indeed, shrinkage ftl
