well as some of you may or may not have known....i fried an mtx 1501d a few weeks ago (dmm leads on teh speaker terminals, set for amperage and not voltage like it should), poof, since there wa no protection circuit......then as i drove my other one into hard clipping and overheatage with sinewaves all day in the blistering florida sub......blew my xxx15 which in turn took out the amp with it since it was well...modded.....and without the protection circuit....

moral of the sotry kids, although modding can do some great things for your amp powerwise...... if you're a clumbsy jackass like me, you shouldnt mod your shit.....

what sucks THE WORST...is the price factor....after repairing the 2nd amp....and haveing bought them used.....i have spent a total of $865

865....i could have done so, so, so, soooo much better with power and electrical sstem upgrades with that kinda money.....but no....ima douche..... and i say to all the beginers...be careful, dont abuse your shit, it'll fry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif....... unless it's an IA 20.1 :p

o well..thanks for feelig my pain with me guys...ill let ya know when i finally have both amps in and running (un modded at 2 ohms) on this concept csp 18 in my upcoming spl project.....thank you, goodnight

Kinda like using a rubber, huh. Take off the protection and all kinds of things can happen..

i dont even want to go into what i got.. and we were both virgins... maybe i shoulda pulled out????//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

lol.......i just wish i didnt soend so much money on tht shit....i could got an 1a 20.1 with that cash......bloody hell

and yes pulling out FTW !!!!!! lol

so you can mess up your amp setting the gains if your DMM is on the wrong setting?
Yes because it will be giving you a reading based on the wrong type of measurement.

Akin to using a ruler that reads in centimeters but needing measurements in inches and making the cuts anyway based on the marks on the wrong ruler.

ohh, yeah I know the gains would be set all wrong but could you damage the amp itself by touching the dmm to the speaker terminals under the wrong setting or something like that?

ya.....there's seperate plugs for measureing current and measureing voltage....when measureing current the leads are connected on the inside...which essentially is like taking a piece of wire and crossing the speake routputs when it's in full tilt with no protections circuit...pooof.... the other plug for voltage doesnt have that problem since its made to be hooked up in parallel like that....but haveing the dmm on the wrong setting but the right plug will only have you taking a chance on hurting the dmm (such as if the voltage range was something small and you read something with a signifigantly higher voltage range)

but ya...as of tomarrow i WOULD HAVE had 2 1501d's my monster csp 18, and being ready to save for a new alty.....but now im down an amp again....

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFudge
