ehh maybe i just need to gett a diff sub then this ones not loud enough for me after about turning the bass on my stock head unit half way up the sound gets really shitty and distored maybe i just need to tune my amp right or somthing idk or maybe im a dumbass and shouldnt of even tried to turn my bass on the hd over half way i just dont think the sound should of get distored like that imo

Research. For the power you are running a Type R is one of the loudest subs you can get in that price range. Blame your amp, but buying a 500w Kenwood won't be much better.

loll you need to search. dont' touch the bass level on your head unit, it should be 0.

If your gains are set correctly, you should get plently loud with that said.

I will tell you from experiance its best to spend the money up front. It will save you SOO much down the road.

I had a 18" Fi BTL Fully loaded triple stack and a Visonik V4000XD. All I needed wazs to spend $200 to get my amp fixed and I would have been golden... Well... I sold it all and a year later Iv dropped over 1k in random shit instead of just saving.

x2 There's one for sale for $130 shipped in the classifieds here. Get that and you'll have a little headroom so you won't have to crank your gain so high. Buy a dmm (digital multi meter) at Walmart and read up on how to set your gain with it. Just out of curiosity, what size power and ground wire do you have?
