A question about Rockford's bass wired remote control

Hi,

I have installed a Power 551x amplifier in my car and the installer told me that there is no point installing the wired bass remote control because I have no sub-woofer installed in my car. My system consists of 6X9" rear speakers and 5.25" components in the front. I looked at the amp's manual and saw nothing saying that a sub-woofer is needed to get the effect of that wired remote control. Please help me understand what this remote control will add me and if you think it is important to have it installed.

basically that remote is an easily accessable gain knob. you can use it, but whats the point on a component set?

The amp is connected to a pair of comps and to a pair of 6X9" so it should push not only the comps.

Therefore, my question is what I will get from having this remote installed?
