A lot of vibrations on deck

Another layer of dampening wont help much. You need to stiffen the panel. Id suggest a piece of wood across the panel, screwed in several strategic places, or even layered fiberglass. The wood would be easier though.
A small sealed enclosure is going to drastically alter the sub performance. I kinda figured you were going for the IB response.
Do you know of any good threads with pictures of this? A picture is worth a 1000 words.

Alright I got the rear deck off ready for cleaning...

I plan to cut about 1" further around the circle to make sure the sub does not touch the deck at all and cover the entire deck with FatMat. I will then get about a 1ft x 3ft MDF board to spread over the top (as much as I can cover without impeding headrests in down position) and mount the subwoofer on the board. I will then seal the board all the way around.

I may also reinforce the underside with a long strip of MDF as well to help with the added weight. The metal is pretty thick though...

What thickness MDF should I use?

Do I have the right approach as a noob? Anything wrong I plan to do? Just checking before I start making the new baffle board.

Like I said in the OP...150W RMS is ample enough for me. As it is right NOW its plenty...its the just the vibrations that were killing my ears. If this will solve the vibrations at low to medium volumes I will be perfectly content. I wish to retain my hearing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

All I need to know now is what thickness MDF would work the best?

And thanks about benz. Shame yesterday after doing the valve stem seals a leakdown test showed 25-30% loss //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ....oh well, she drives perfectly fine right now. I'd hate to junk the car so I'll just engine swap when SHTF.

Alrighty...

I am going to have big problems if I have anything larger than this as I don't want to cut up the deck cover except under the medical box. I will mount this one and see how it sounds and go from there. Its easy enough to make a bigger one and figure out a 2nd gameplan if it still doesn't sound where I want it to be at.

Gonna screw it down and post back in a few hours...taking a break //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The board ended up breaking as it was too thin (I had a feeling it would...) so I had to change the design to make it thicker. It worked out perfect.

Not bolted up yet, but when pressed down, NO vibrations!! BIG success!! There is no change in quality, but the fact the vibrations are gone as just amazing. I am VERY happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
