Ah I'm just playin yo, I just want some people to check out what I've done and assure me that I didn't wire up any kind of fire hazard because I'm not the champ at wiring... so lemme know what you think (or if anything is f up)

So I'll start with what I don't think I could've messed up..

Neg. Terminal - Chassis Ground

Engine Block - Chassis Ground

Okay, please take a look at this and confirm that the engine block is definitely covered with the bolt I chose, also; I picked a ground that seemed like it was already in use by some reallly small and thin wire.. I have another picture of that small wire to show where it runs to (also to engine block I think so that's like two grounds I guess with the same purpose)

I didn't actually get to take pics of the Alt+ to Bat+ but I do have a question.. I ran a wire about 3 feet long, would it be necessary to fuse that? I'll be running a system that does about 1100W and I see many people go back and forth on saying fuse the Alternator-Battery Wire

you should be good with a non-fused alt->batt wire as long as that is 0awg wire.

as far as engine->frame, i would run that straight to the negative battery terminal. and if you can, use one of the bolts for the alternator mounting locations, they are just holding the alt on and work really well. just make sure you clean the area that its on.

and that first pic, i would get some 40-grit sandpaper or a wirebrush-drill thing to clean the paint off - BUT - after you clean it off, get a small can of spraypaint thats similar in color to that green, and tape off a little circle round the screw thats as big as your ring terminal and paint it and also look into battery-terminal gel to stop any rusting [you put it on the bare metal after you bolt the ground on to prevent oxidization.

hmm.. nitpicker.. aha na thanks i appreciate it, but would you deem any of those suggestions as "musts"? I dont have enough 0/1 to run from alt to battery negative but if the one I have now seems okay I think I'll stick with it..

Also you don't think I scratched off enough paint? or are you making that suggestion just to make the rest of the metal look pretty?

thanks req =p

im not feelin that ground in the 2nd pic...go from something solid to the body.
okay so seems like i am gonna run a different EngineBlock Ground wire..

but yo what you mean by go from something "solid to the body"

could use a little more explanation i guess

What do you think about using something like anti-sieze gel used for spark plugs. It is usually embedded with copper of silver and is conductive. It also helps prevent corrosion...

I think he means that the point where you have it connected to the engine looks a little sketchy. You might want to find a better bolt to connect to. Something like a bolt that holds the Alt down to the engine...

mannn everyone recommends that bolt.. my alt. was very hard to get at tho

i need to fully understand what a good engine block bolt that is not in use is... there's plenty of bolts but I don't know what exactly the current is supposed to be flowing into..

Any bolt will do. It doesn't have to be the alt, but you need to find one that makes contact with the engine block itself. The current flows like this:

Battery (-) Frame Engine Block Alt Battery (+)

see thats what im confused about.. what exactly is the definition of the engine block //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i figured any bolt, on or around the engine would be fine.. so I'm not sure as how I'm stretching it.. (plus the other thing was that I figured if I grounded to something that was right on top of the engine it would get way too hot)

Engine block = the big chunk of metal that holds the cylinder's, pistons, crankshaft... Get the picture?

Looks like this: http://www.engr.colostate.edu/~dga/me324/handouts/cam_stuff/V-8_engine_block.jpg
