in comparing SQ of the xxx and the mt (older xxx)

obviously the MT wont sound as clean as the xxx, yet still get louder while handleing a great deal more power

let's say in a ported enclosure, what volume and tuning could you put the MT in to get a relativly bettr SQ out of it as opposed to high tuned all out SPL?

Right now i have my xxx15 in 4 cubs and tuned low....could a mt15 with around 1500-2000w maintain decent SQ for all types of music and still get louder than the XXX? or does the SQ of the xxx completely pwn the mt? im thinking about getting an MT with removable slot for the port to change the tuning for daily and comps, but i dont wanna sacrifice the awsome sq of the xxx (which is mighty sweet ill add). is there hope for SQ out of teh mt or is it hopeless?

amp- mtx 1501d, sooner or later orion 2500d

box- whatever is optimal

decent electrical system, but in need of a new HO alty.

any thoughts?

The only MTs I have heard were a set of MT 18"s off of a Hifonics Golliath, in a ported enclosure tuned to 38Hz. Now I currently have SS RL-ps (more of a SQL sub) and Personally I liked the sound of the MTs, of course the SQ was not as good as my SoundSplinters, but none the less they sounded good.

MT's are pretty much loud as FvCK, but the XXX will have a lot better sound quality. MT's really get in your face at higher low notes. It's mildly slopy for SQ, but by no means is it a bad sub. If you want SQ stay with the XXX if you want volume go with the MT....
