9mm vs 45 acp

But you have more rounds with a 9
Theoretically, it needs to only take 1.

I want a 9 because it is so much less gun to carry. Kinetic energy between the two is negligible on a soft target (ie. they both die/go down instantly if hit in any part of mass). Faster bullet travel on the 9 means better accuracy at range and in inopportune conditions as well.

Totally, .40 is the best for carrying by far. You can usually fit a solid 13+ rounds and they have alot of stopping power. I prefer magnum calibers for home defense because the #1 rule of home defense is shoot to kill. Shotty's are solid too

I really hope that shouldnt matter, I should never need more than 2. Maybe one to finish em off if they are in my house

Dont be a wuss, 40 isnt bad. Unless the gun is super subcompact or something the recoil will be alot worse than a 9 but Id rather drop em with 1 then injure them

You need to understand that most people's carrying choice is going to be subcompact-compact. Not many people carry a full sized pistol everyday. So your 13+ round capacity is useless. With a subcompact, you're seeing a 6, 7, maybe 8 round count in .40.

I carry 13 in my compact 40

9mm vs. 45ACP isn't exactly a fair comparison. Apples to oranges. All I know is that I love my .40 and prefer .40 as a daily carry to anything.

Grabbing a Sig 2022 for Christmas in .40 as well. Lovely **** about Sig is it'll do .357 Sig or .40 in the same clip/barrel combo. If I wanna swap out.. simple. Even in the field.

What's everyone's thoughts on 38 super and 357 sig?
357 Sig is ridiculously expensive.

You're not using the stock magazine.
Compact will hold 13 rounds. My sub-compact holds 10+1.. extended mag or compact mag holds 14.

..and Glock is the McDonalds of guns. Just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif.

I just bought my first gun the other day. Glock 19 Gen4. I picked a 9mm because well... It held the most bullets, and will be cheap to shoot over time. Out of all the Glocks in the compact size, it held 15+1. The only one that carries more is the 17, which is the full size service pistol, but that only holds 17+1, and the extra 2 bullets arent worth the extra .5" grip length when youre trying to conceal it.

Capacity seemed very important, because while a .45, .40, or 10mm is a more powerful round (nobody will debate that), the chances of you actually shooting someone in a split-second self defense situation are pretty small, I would imagine. If I had a Glock 30 with 10 rounds of .45acp or even 13 rounds in the Glock 21 (full size), what happens if there were 2 guys coming at me with weapons? I have 5 shots to take each down. While Im running, they are running, and Im shooting one handed in a dark parking lot, I wouldnt feel comfortable knowing that I have 10 shots to take down two guys, much less one.

I feel that a 9mm JHP +p+ will do a fine job in taking someone down, or at least stopping any threat. If the military hands out 9mms as a sidearm to soldiers who will possibly see battle, I think its good enough for me considering the fact that I will likely never need it for defense.

Next winter, when Im more comfortable shooting and have maybe taken more classes, when I can conceal a large weapon better under heavier clothing (this winter might as well be over its hot as hell outside already), I might do something like a Glock 20 in 10mm to have the extra stopping power, but for now, I feel like 9mm is the better package.

It does depend on the gun. I'm not serious.. lol.

..and no ****. Here in Indiana though..

I'm not even going to get into weapon talk with CA.com. LOL, I was just putting my opinion out there. There are 100 reasons I carry a Sig and 500 reasons I don't carry a Glock. I'll just leave it at that.
