9mm vs 45 acp

For some one who isnt a confident shooter in a stressful situation maybe quite a few...
Yeah, but if you miss the first two or three shots, and you're shooting in quick succession, compounded by the fact that you bought a gun that you aren't confident with(that's the most important thing with a carry gun), you're just going to be wastin rounds anyway. No competent person would need the extra mag capacity of a 9 compared to a .45 in this kind of situation. And if you're getting gang robbed, then I'd imagine that after realizing you've killed Jimmy, the other guys are going to run away, because most people don't expect Joe Schmo to have a Walther .45 in his waistband.

Honestly, if you're just getting a gun to shoot, get a 9mm. They're plenty powerful, and have cheap ammo. If you're trying to protect yourself, and you really want to be sure, get a .40 or .45. .45s are nice, but their ammo is so **** expensive, and you won't really need the extra stopping power compared to a .40 unless you're trying to take down a rabid horse or something.

And if it's a home invasion kind of defense, get a short barrel shotgun instead of a pistol.

never been a fan of the "safety" trigger on a glock
You know, I thought I'd hate them too, but I actually like them. I feel like they're more suited for defense than a standard thumb safety or even a decocker. I don't want to be messing around with my thumb if someone's about to start shooting up a theater; I'd even more dislike having to deal with double action for the first round. So I really like the idea of a trigger safety, and I like the 1911-style safeties on the hand guard as well, for the same reasons.

The LCR is 357 magnum. I am aware of 357 sig..
I didn't quote you because i wasn't replying to you. I posted earlier in the thread that the op should look into them if he wanted to maintain higher capacity and effective stopping power he should look into the .357 sig but the thread blew up and when i posted it was farther into the thread was all.

I would recomend you go to a gun forum and not a car audio forum

because this debate has been on going for decades....

IMO 9MM does plenty ,esp with todays high power loads ....just ask Trayvon Martin......RIP
