Hey guys,

Ive noticed my saturn has been really loud lately. It was loud before but i replaced the tensioner and that seemed to quiet it, but now its back to being noisy again, is that just the belt?

Also, when im braking it sounds like something is rubbing together (sounds comming from my tires) i just had my tires replaced and the mechanic never said that anything was wrong. brake pads or sumthing?

spray wd-40 on your belt and see if the noise goes away, if so, thats your problem..

grinding like metal? probably pads. My brakes make a noise, but its more of a swish-swish-swish really fast, but its due to the slots....

id check to see if you might have a slightly warped rotor, or if its wearing unevenly, maybe even something that is rubbing against your rotor. Best thing to do is take off your tire and see what you can find.

WD-40 is a horrible idea. It will only make the belt worse in the long run, and by long run I mean about 2 days. There's a reason that STP makes belt dressing.

Congrats. Negative results are not always apparent. And WD-40 is only a cleaner, it has no lubricating or adhesive qualities, beyond it's wet life.

STP Belt Dressing. $4 at VatoZone. It will moisturize the belt, and provide a small amount of adhesion to stop the squeak. But, if it's squeaking, then any solution is temporary. You've got something that needs to be replaced.

And I believe you'd have the 2.0 Ecotec, which is known for a shitty belt tensioner. If that's the case, get a set of hole saws. You're going to have to drill a hole in the fender wall to get the bolt all the way out to remove the assembly. Just make sure and prime it when you're done, and put the fender guard back in.

yeah i found out quick about the tensioner being shitty. Cept i didnt have to drill any holes. the fender guard is loose and once i take off the tire i can get at it no problem
