99 mustang gt mach460 replacement speakers?

i have a 99 GT and was wanting to replace the mach460 speakers. it has 2 speakers up front and 2 6x8s in the back window. I'm not really feelin the sound quality. I want something with more bass. i don't want a subwoofer, but i was wanting to replace all the factory speakers with something that sounds clean with great bass. I don't know if anyone has heard the monsoon systems in the trans ams but it sounds AWESOME! i had a friend replace all his door speakers in his blazer with pioneer and it sounded like a bunch of treble with no bass what so ever. First things first. Are you just looking to replace the 5.5" x 7.5"s?

The mach460 comes with 8 speakers. 4 tweeters and 4 mids. Do you want to replace all of them or just the mids?

Going with a couple sets of components would be the way to go if you wanted to replace all 8. I am in the process of changing out my mach460 now. So let me know what you want to do and I can help you.

what year mustang do u have? I know the 2001 and up come with tweeters up by the door mirrors...at least i think they do...I'm looking at replacing the whle system...I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to car audio...what do u suggest?

I hate to break it to you but you need a sub! I tried the "no sub" setup in my '01 and I almost blew my nice components trying to get good performance out of them.

I have a 2000. It has two tweeters by the side mirrors, 2 mids in the door panels, and a set of components on the rear deck. Two smps are located under the rear deck on the sides, and the 3rd is located under the lower HU.

That is my setup I ripped most of it out, and am redoing everything.

Also, I am installing some cadence CVL's this week. I will let you know if I get enough bass with them, or if subs are a must. I am going to add some subs for sure anyways, but I will have the components in without subs until I have more time to do the subwoofer install. So I will let you know how it sounds without them.

hey ive got an 02... sound deadening the doors is a good place to start.. it will make even the stock speakers sound much much better, and is almost mandatory when upgrading to good aftermarket speakers... its alot of work, but it is worth it if you want results

the rear speakers on the deck are they in that plastic sub enclosure. if they are like the one in my friends mustang, you can mod it to fit the eu-700 that will give you some good mid and bass. in the stock system. you may need to actualy add an amp to them and ditch the factory amp for the rears. but it will sound good.

but there is nothing like having 2 12" subs in the trunk. these where the subs before he wrecked it

do you have the mach system or not? if you do then you should have the tweeters in the sail panels on the doors. all mach systems have the tweeters. If you dont the buy a pair of good components, sub and amp. I ran alot of stuff in my 99 and now in my 05. I always ran a 12in sub in a sealed box, about 1cf. it fits great in the trunk. I wouldnt screw around with the rear speakers.
