Hello,

This is my first post to CA.com.

Here to learn, help and have fun in what sadly seems to be a slow hobby these days.

So my question is: does anyone have experience building an enclosure for an SUV that utilizes 2x12's and 2x15's. I have my 15's in a box built to spec but i'd like to change the shape for those and be able to make room to add to 12's to get that mid-bass response.

The 15's require 3ft cubed and the 12's I haven't decided on but I'm thinking MTX 9500's

I will post up some pics of what im working with and a sketch after I figure out dimensions and placement.

Thanks Much

well what i mean is higher bass frequencies that the 15's don't hit very well. I also want that kick drum to knock hard and my crappy infinitys dont do it. and im not convinced that a great pair of components will do what I want

oh dear 10'er ... you're going to need a flamesuit shortly talking like this.

okay, you don't ever want to mix two different sub sizes together. You can get 15's to get punchy and 10's to get real low. It's a myth that they can't. If you're not happy with the sound of your 15's, you probably need a better box. You might be able to just do some tweaking with your crossover and if you have an EQ. A lot of cd players have built in eq's now so try messing with tuning everything first before you spend money on a new box. I have 2 12's that play down to 20hz with ease. Will do a 139db @25hz. But I also listen to a lot of metal so I like solid drum kicks too. They get surprisingly punchy for being tuned so low. You should tell us more about your subs, amp, and box so we can help.

Im pushing 2 hcca's w/ a M.A. Audio HK 802sx 4400watt. The box was custom built for a silverado so I choped it in half and lined them up side by side facing the hatch. These subs are 11 years old and when installed they were installed to this box and from what I've read, have the right dimensions. 3 ft. cubed per side.

I was planning on getting a pair of focal 165vr's for the front to get a better sound. Plus I was also looking at a EPIC-160 Bass Processor to have more signal control.

thanks

what's your electrical? That amp is a current hog.

Okay, I'm the dummy now, I did not look at your sig. You have old HCCA's. Some of my favorite subs ever. The 802sx is a beast. This setup should be amazing for drums. I know those old HCCA's are fully capable, so try messing with tuning them a bit.

per side and Its sloted/ported. Ill post a pick here in a min.

And my electrical is a megatron under the hood with a PAC 200 relay and an Optima yellow top in the back with 2 4 gauge cables with 4 100 amp fuses.

stock alt? no big 3? .... eeekk. Get those upgraded/done asap.

anyone whom uses them are retarded. that's why, they are the average user in car audio whom knows nothing about it honestly.

Example: "Yo dawg I gots fo' fiteens in my ride dawg in a box dawg. ( A box that he has no idea of the specs )"

Heres what I have for a box. Its double thick on the front. If anything, I'd like to reduce the height and add depth.
