9855 will not open to eject cd.....wtf!!

I've had my 9855 for about six weeks now, the problem is that I can not eject a cd from the headunit. The face will not open and flip down.

Anyone else having this problem? Is there anything I can do other than sending it back?

Take it back. Alpine has recently been shown the light that there is a problem with the 9855 and the 9853. Had 2 different customers buy our last 2 and both were back with in 3 days with your described problem. Swaped in 9853 untill we could get some more 9855's in (sold out). Within in a couple of days they too did the same thing. Called Alpine on the issue, the spoke with there techs, and verfied there was a problem. Alpine had us send our entire stock of 9855 and 9853 into them and has since sent us the new "updated" 9855 and 9853. this all transpired as of last week and we are still waiting on the replacements.

I just bought my 9855 and its doing the same dam thing. I noticed, if you tap the face after you hit the eject button, it usually pops open then. I love hitting my $400 head unit. Makes it seem worth the money.

i get that sometimes but I "think" its from the heat. Its only done it to me when its been like 95+ degrees in my car or something really hot... Anwyays I just wack the side of my dash relatively lightly and it fixes it right up. It also rarely happens. It doesnt bother me much tho.

i know this has nothing to do with Alpine but my 7600MP ejects every disc a different length out..if that makes sense..

my mother had the exact same problem for about 2 days with her 9851 it had been sitting in the sun all day but after she put it in the garage for a day and a half then it stopped and has been fine for about a month

Tried to tell you all that alpine went cheaper internally in the 2005 units... As usual no one listened... They changed the motors of the face, changed the internal amp etc... So they would be a better bang for the buck...
