i have just got a 98 silverado ext. cab, and i am looking for a system. I am definitly using an Eclipse deck, an Eclipse 6 3/4 component system, a pair of Eclpise 4x6 coaxials, and a PPI 400 watt 4 channel amp, but i am not sure on what to use to take care of the low end. I thought about 2 JL W7 18"s, but i want the back seat to stay in. Do you have any suggestions?

Are you Bill Gates? Do you know haw much those two 18W7 are gonna cost each!! It would be a total waste to only hook it up to a 400 watt amp!!! Everything else sounds good though.

Seeing as how you like the eclipse equipment. And if your looking at W7's price isn't a big deal. Take a look at the eclipse ti's very nice subs. Work very well in small enclosures.

Put a fiberglass bed cover and get a bed box that will be as big as the bed of your truck and as the low end subs get Memhis or PG it is the only way to got.

HERE is my system specs:

My system Wangs like a Mofo. I'll start with subs - 4 x Memphis Lvs (RMS 800/ PEAK 1200) IN BED MOUNTED BOX IT FILLS A LONG WHEEL BASE BED. I have 2 Memphis 1200 watt amps brigded together with 4 battery packs. On the bed box I have 6 x Memphis 15-ST57 2 way 5x7's powered by 600 watt memphis Class AB amp. I also have Neon Bass Lamps that are built in to my fiberglass bed top. Next The cab of the truck. I took out the factory 4x6's and the 4x10's and put in Memphis 15-ST46 4X6'S and Memphis 15-PR41S 4X10'S. I have the 4x6's and the 5x7's hooked up directly to my CD player. Which is a Kenwood DPX_4010 and a Kenwood KDC-C717 10 disc changer. So I have spent tons of money and got a great truck sound sys. I only use memphis speakers and amps and kenwood Cd players and Cd Changers. I am just a southern prep with a need 4 Good sound. Don't have any pics as of yet but when I do it will not be pics it will be video intro to my System.

dude those 18" are gonna be a heck of a lot of money you should just put 2 15" or 12" the bigger you get the less bass you get because it turns more into a midrange:rolleyes:

do you want your truck to sound good or just bump. quality is better than quantity

I just posted a request for some help on finding plans for a box that would fit under the rear seat of my Ext Cab p/u. The cheapest in several local shops is over $200. If you can help me out, I'm sure you'd be helping out my fellow Silverado owner who started this thread. My post was in the audio/instalation/tech subwoofer section if you dont mind checking it out.

Thanks,

Adam

I don't know where you are from but here at the local car audio shop the boxes are $159

$200 does sound high! i paid $150 for a custom box to fit under the seat of my ram, pics are in the section under the thread 2001 dodge ram quad cab.

You should check your sources on that one buddy. The larger the woofer the deeper the bass. I have one Audiobahn 18 and I bet you have never heard bass this low.
