Anyone familiar with installing 6.5" speakers in the front doors of a '98 Honda Civic? I had some minor trouble installing these over the summer. First thing I noticed is that the two 'install rings' that came with the Infinities were oversized for the hole in the door. I could not figure out a way to use them so for the first week I just wedged the speakers in and put the stock grill over them.
When I went back the next week to take a good look at how to mount these the only thing I could come up with was to use two of the four mounting screws to screw these into the plastic. The other two would not line up at all. The screws barely seat in the plastic, tho, and I'm not very happy with this. I did notice a marked improvement in sound quality with the speakers screwed in but wonder if there's a better way- and one that will help improve the sound.
Is it possible to use the install rings with the 98 Civic? Will it be necessary to modify the door enclosure in some way? (Hoping not because I don't really warm to the idea of cutting and sawing!)
Thanks in advance!
