97 Explorer starter

Has anyone done a starter in an Explorer? i went under it andlooked at it and it seems that everythign is a pain in the *** to get to thanks to the a arm being in the way of every bolt, anyone changed one of these or know how much im looking at to get one installed for me?

I'm not lookin for exact numbers just a ballpark of what i should be looking at paying.

depends on your area,but 50 to 60 bucks should be enough.

hmm that seems cheap, i was looking at it and even attempted to take it off but theres no room to workdown there

did you lay under the vehicle? i have done one before on a 95, and it was not difficult at all

4.0 and yea i was under the car, i had some issues tryign to get the electrical off the solenoid and getting to the mounting bolts as well.

I am trying to remember the exact layout (location/orientation) of the starter, but i remember using a universal on a 3/8's drive with long extension for the mounting, and removed the electrical after i had it hanging

edit: starter on an automatic though..

this is on an automatic as well, the starter is hard to see whatsoever from the top and a pain in the neck to get to from the bottom, the A-Arm is pretty much in the way of me getting much of anything to theunit, i do need a swivel lik the one pictured though.
