96 Ford Contour

Hey my mom and dad just bought me a 1996 Ford Contour from my aunt and uncle. I won't get it for a little while cuz I'm out of town but I want to replace the factory speakers and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what sizes I'm gonna need and everything. Thanks.

If im not mistaken, the Contour has a 5x7 opening in each of the front doors and the rear deck. I used to rent the Mercury version of that car and remembering what it had in there. Im postive that you have 5x7/6x8 opening in there.

There are a few good speakers that size but a adapter would let you put a more popular speaker size in there like a 5.25 or a 6.5. They are cheap on ebay or you could make one yourself out of MDF and your old speaker as a template. Hope that helps

Yep. They are 6x8's, but most speakers you will see that fit are 5x7/6x8's. They've usually got mounting options for either size. The ones in the Contour's are true 6x8's.
