9500 how does it compare to XXX, w7, etc

I may attempt my own fiberglass box here pretty soon I bought the stuff not too long ago just havent gotten around to messing with it. I'm guessing building your own fiberglass box is hard enough but a ported one would be near impossible for me.

My friend has a 9500 in a Ported enclosure w/ some 1000 watt MTX amp, i am running a XXX off of a Nine.1 in a 1 cube sealed box. My Output is about the same as his, but the sound quality of my sub blows his away. His also rattles his car so much he can't even turn it up loud because the rattles drown out the bass.

Wouldn't the rattles be strictly the fault of the vehicle/install? And if that is the case then that may attest to the result of your SQ being better. Correct me if I'm wrong though. How much can a XXX be purchased for?

You would think its based on the vehicle, but i dunno. My JL Audio W3 running from a JL 250/1 amp rattled my car and vibrated things a whole lot more than the XXX running off of a Nine.1 does. I got mine for 350 shipped. They are a little more from RE, but they are not currently being sold until fall.

Another thing with the 9500 is i noticed it doesn't blend at all with the speakers. I dunno if it was his install, but it just sounded like a sub going off randomly to music, it didn't sound blended at all. My XXX sounds perfectly blended.

install is important,if a 9500 sounds like shit dont blame the sub,recheck you brain and why you installed that sub like a monkey

Yea something was wrong. Im not the biggest fan of mtx subs, but the 9500s impressed me when I heard 2 15s powered by an american bass 2500watt amp. They sounded pretty decent, and got insanely loud. One of the most impressive systems ive heard to date actually.

If the subs dont blend with the rest of the system, its a poor install, not bad speakers. There are many non-speaker related things that cause poor blending of speakers (mismatched output due to power or efficiency differences, poor speaker placement, poor sound deadening and/or vibration control, etc etc).

Or he could dial it in with the gain settings. That's how most people do it anyway.

I guess I could do that I already have the MDF and my dad has plenty of tools. My main complaint would be figuring out all the port info and whatnot. Seems like a PITA, a sealed box would be nothing (I have built a sealed with plexi and the works before without too much trouble).

They are in 2 totally different leagues. You cant really compare them.
