94 Cavalier Amp Install

Hi everyone, I have a 94 Cavalier Z24 and I am trying to install an amp into it. I was hoping to run the power wire through the firewall via a hole in it (possibly plugged by a rubber plug.) However, I cannot find such a plug. Is there such a plug in this car that I can get access to the engine bay from the cabin? Or should I drill a hole?

I just drilled a hole in my grand prix. You can get rubber grommets to protect the wiring from home depot or lowes, look in the drawers with all of the special fasteners and things.

there is one, drivers side just above the pedals. Just slice a small X into it with a box cutter and slip your power through that...if you want more "protection" you can tape around the power wire. take a good look, i know one is there. ive done numerous installs in friends cavys (93-96) and theyre all there. good luck

I could not find this hole you speak of? The only place that seemed suitible was the steering wheel area. There is a rubber sleeve around the steering wheel and the wire would almost make it through there, we tried to no avail.

Also, there is a black rubber mat covering most of the fire wall. It's hard to pull up or down on it to see the actual fire wall.

Any more specific location for that plug? which pedal is it above (or between for that matter)

I do appreciate the help, hope you can shed a little bit more light on my situation!

Thanks!

if you stick your head under the dash and look up, there should be a little rubber thing where all the wires go through. If you cant see it from inside the car, check it from under the hood. you should be able to find it easy. ill take a pic soon and post. good luck til then

eaiser way. i had a 94 cavalier. open the hood, and find the flat area (parallel to the ground) just behind a verticle wall right under the driver side window wiper.

drill a 4~6 guage hole right in the center there (find it by sticking your arm up through the dash underneath all the way to the top, have a friend poke it with a screwdriver and find the vibrations.

its a great spot and from there its easy to run the wire. ill go take a picture if you really want to.

you can see the rust spot. its my sisters car now, ive since taken the stereo out. while it was mine i just globbed a nice fat blob of silicone right on the hole after i put the wire through.

good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I did a similar thing with my 94 corsica except I put the hole next to the wire inlet just under the gasket
