93'Ford Probe

Fella's,I'am needing to find out the best way's to dampen this vehicale!Especially the hatchback area. Thanks for all suggestion's & advise,Clint

well... since this is a special case of a Ford Probe, i would say the best way to dampen it for rattles and unwanted sounds would be to drive it off of a cliff and into the bottom of the ocean... That should take care of any rattling that your subs happen to make

lol but yeah, i imagine that this instance wouldn't be any different than any other car, meaning that you should get some sound dampening material (Second Skin works really well) and cover every surface that you possibly can (inside the interior, right next to the outer sheet metal).

I think he did answer your question, did you miss that? BTW, my first car was a Ford Probe, so I am allowed to laugh if I want. I would say that the most important thing that you have to worry about is upgrading your electrical system! You may have, however already taken care of this.

Not a darn thing wrong with the Ford Probe. It's quite the little car all around.

Dampening it will likely be a pain, as the hatch area rattles like crazy at the slightest bump.

Going to have to remove all the interior trim and carpet in the hatch area, and start there.

I'd suggest starting with a liquid based deadener on the metal behind the panels, and using a mat deadener on the backs of the panels themselves.

The more the better, so long as you can get the panels back into place.

You can also raise the rear end of your car, and slightly loosen the rear bumper cover mounting bolts, place some flat foam weatherstripping material in the space, and then tighten things down again.

That will cure the annoying rattle in your rear bumper.

Some of that same foam could also be used on the back of your license plate for added fun.

It's going to take a while to do this, and also be discouraging at times. Don't let that get to you though, as you will be glad you did everything in the end.

I didn't think it was all that comical.Being that I was asking a serious question.And looking for a serious answer!But,that's fine anyhow!Peace,Clint
Haha yes... sorry bout that but i am a little biased about those cars. I owned one for about two months before EVERYTHING started going bad on it, i swear i put so much money into fixing things on it in just the first two months that i had it. I finally gave up when the clutch gave out...

Anyways yeah, i did answer your question in my previous post. There isn't a thing different (well maybe one or two, but nothing major) in the damping of sound in your car than in basically any other car. You need to get damping material, i would suggest Second Skin myself, and put it on every external surface possible, right next to the outer sheet metal. Start with the area around the speakers and move outwards.
