92 Civic Dash Fabrication *WORKLOG* 56k Flood (Fiberglass)

thanks nG, I am actually trying to get a compressor so I can do real work and shoot heavy primer such as slick sand and spray real paint. Of course I can achieve nice results with SEm spray cans, but that is just for small scale projects.

Anyhow, thanks for the props.

looks very nice. That dash will need a Mugen Carbon fiber SRS blockoff tray when it's done. Oh, and what kid of paint did you use for the dash?

all SEM Texture and SEM Honda Classy Gray, SEm Satin Black for the Mold and respray of the dash

How easy is it to mess up fiberglass. Lately Ive had the urge to make some fiberglass pods for my components but Im not going to try anything that I dont have the ability to do. It just looks like something I could do

It's not voodoo by any means. Experience will let you accomplish better fit and finish in a shorter time but anyone can get good results with patience. Hell, make some simple, worthless things first. You might make some mistakes but who cares. You don't have to post pics of your mistakes. LOL

When I first started messin with glass I made things I didn't even need just so I would get practice. I would make one speaker pod for an imaginary vehicle and then throw it away when I was done. Then make a different, more complex pod, and so on, and so on....

looks good man. i would have gotten rid of the vents and a few other things, but overall i like what you did.

i was not sure about the controller, but it ended up fitting in there quite nicely.

right basically with fiberglass it is all experience and know the properties of the different materials that are used and just understand the whole point of structure of your project or what not. As mentioned above I second that you should try small projects that aren't worth anything. Then Build on these projects and things will progress.

I've got a block off tray for an EG already made in my garage. Made it out of wonderflex, and a layer of 'glass. Just needs to be bondo'd and sprayed. And it's about 3/4" deep. I can get pics if you'd like, so you can see what we did with it.
