8w7 ported, or sealed

Im replacing my two 10w1's for one 8w7, and was wondering if anyone has heard it in each box, and what "you thought" of the sound.

I dont know which way to go.

My main goal is SQ, but am I defeating the purpose by getting a w7 in a sealed box (that I'm leaning toward) rather than ported.

I was wondering the same. Jl says 1.0 cf3 ported to 32htz They also say to slot port it. How do you calculate slot ports? Or just seal it at .875 cf3 sealed???

Do not seal you 8W7!! You will not like the results! I would run it ported!! No doubt. I had mine sealed then switched over to ported and loved how much better is sounded ported.

I think 8"s should probably not consider sealed at all, they're hampered enough by the cone size already...

No reason you can't run it sealed. Fantastic woofer for IB applications as well.

Slot ports really are no different than any other port. Both are a function of area * length, you just calculate it as a simple square or rectangle for the area, rather than as a circle.
