8's in the back deck?

Can you solve it?
I'm playing with some ideas for my new setup and this is something that crossed my mind and I'm wondering if anyone has ever done it. Also, how it would sound. I'm planning on running some CDT CL-61's in the front and rather than putting some 6X9's as fill I was thinking about using my RE 8's instead. I would run the lows on 2 11kv2's and an ED amp. Would the 8's help anything or just throw the sound off?

Thanks,

Justin

**EDIT** Forgot to mention that I want to run a us amps tu 4360 to drive the components, that would be 75X4 per channel (most likely a bit more as us amps are underrateed)

I really don't know what frequency I would run them at. I'm kinda looking at you guys/gals for that too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Also could I run them without a box? I really hate the sound of 6X9's but like rear fill.

i ran an 8 inch comp vr in a sealed box in my back deck and it had some farily decent output. I cut a square out of the rear deck the size of the face of the box and mounted it flush with the surface of my rear deck. It just looked like any other rear deck speaker except in the middle if that helps you get a better picture. I was running that as my only low end and was fairly pleased with it.

i have a pair of RL-8s in my rear deck in sealed boxes hanging from it

theyre subwoofers so theyre covering that range

sounds pretty **** good to me

and Beat, when my car gets fixed you can hear it

How much power are you feeding them? I was just looking and I only need like .2 cubes to make it work. I may just go that route. I don't see it pulling down my rear deck or anything. I just don't want to end up overpowering my comps with subs......but I just can't stand 6X9's LOL.

Oh, I thought the REs would BE your substage......

Honestly, from what I've heard from Lloyd and others, if you run 4 in the rear deck, you won't need any other subs.

Personally, I wouldn't do both....

I just can't see myself being happy with the output of the 8's alone. I guess I could buy the amp install the 8's and put the CDT's in and give it a try. Worse case, I hate it and install the ed k's (10's).

OR should I just skip the 8's sell them buy some fillers and get the 10's?

Thanks for the input.

I don't know offhand, but the 4 8s might have Sd advantage....If you don't run minisubs in the rear deck, just throw some halfway decent fillers in there and run them off the HU....mainly for fill and backseat drivers anyway....

*ponders* well its something to think about at least. My first setup had 4 10's then I went to 1 12....now I'm thinking 2 8's....am I degressing? Hrm...maybe I'm getting old? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Maybe I should buy an 18 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Honestly would I be better of scraping the 8's and going with the 2 11kv2's from elemental designs?

Oops, I don't know why I was thinking you were considering 4 8s.....2 8s may not be what you're looking for but since I'm not you, I can't be sure...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I understand though, I've run multiple subs in the past but have settled for a single MemphisMClass 12" sealed in my car.....but I am running dual ported Atlas12s off a DEI 1100d in my work van so I dunno.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

4 8's isn't a bad idea. I just see that being more work than I want to invest into the rears. But I could keep most if not all of my trunk space, that would be pretty sweet.

um. if they are your SUBWOOFERS. sure. go for it, its been done loads of times.

if you are talking about MIDBASS or MIDRANGE seenig that you "would run the lows on 2 11kv2's and an ED amp" - that tells me that you have no need for this, so dont bother.

in essance, no. dont put anything there. if you do put anything there - put some rear fill thats virtually off.
