880prs or carputer?

I sold my eclipse cd8445, so as of now I'm without a hu. I was gonna get the 780mp but most people say the 880prs has so many more features. The 880 is like 300 give or take a few bucks on ebay I believe...now...I know the carputer will be more money, but I've wanted to have one for a while now, and I'm thinking...why buy a 300 dollar hu, and then in a year or 6 months replace it with a carputer? How would this work with my setup(4 mts)? Would it sound as good as the 880? Basically I want It becuase I have like 30 gigs of songs on my pc, so I can just play them from the hd instead of having multiple cds. What do you guys think I should do? If I do the computer, its not gonna be slow...I'm gonna get like 1gig of ram, a 250gb hd, etc. Plus I have my blackberry, and can plug it into my USB port and it let's me have access to the internet. Its not fast enough for downloading, but great for forums and email and AIM, stuff like that.

Anyways, give me some ideas guys.

The carputer will give you more music storage and the 880 will give you better sound quality and be better against skipping.

Whichever is more important to you should be your choice.

well skipping isnt good. i dont know what i should do...how much better would the SQ be than the pc?

That would be totally SOUNDCARD dependent. There are some really good soundcards on the market that would rival the 880 however what about crossovers. Not to mention, what kind of line voltage could you get out of a carputer?? These are variables I don't have much knowledge in. I just know that for me a carputer sounds like more trouble than what it's worth. But thats just my opinion.

How?? The 880 doesn't have a digital input and going analog would be defeating the purpose.

Im all SQ but want a carputer too, so want Im doing is buying the nicest sound card I can that has an optical out. Then Im going to buy that alpine processor, then its all good.

Like what was said above there are sound cards that are just as good if not better than the 880prs.
