880prs or carputer?

but ive heard the preouts ****, like less than 2v
Yes totally true, my onboard audio puts out ~1V, the sound card even less. You need to use a line driver to boost it, the one I got puts out ~3wrms and cost me ~35 bucks. Forgot which model but I can check if you're interested in knowing. Me personally, I'm going carPC+HU just because I like to play cd's and still have radio. If I was a baller I'd get a mini-ITX with the PC directly behind the touchscreen and a slot load DVD burner underneath the screen all fiberglassed into the dash nicely and a nice EQ unit to tune everything how I like. However, I'm not a baller so I'm running a Shuttle XPC with a M2-ATX 160W PSU in the trunk and about to put a HU back in so I can still make adjustments and play a cd without loading one into the dvd in the trunk.

alright my kind a thread.

If you dont equilize it might sound like sh!t. I equilize my 9847 and my computer to my needs. If you plan on doin a carputer look for a headunit with the best sounding AUX(hard to to do but,if you cant just go with a name brand, usually ends up ok) and i dont know how great your ears are when it comes to SQ since you'll have 4 MTs punding behind you. and no your HDD shouldnt skip,if you get a laptop one(it can withstand the shocks better) just try to keep the computer away from the MT's as much as possible. consult my Carputer 101 thread for more info, lots of good facts there

Yes, thats how I had installed all my shit to my hdd for mine. The carputers MOSTLY need a 2.5" hdd, which is as you call it, "laptop" hdd. Trust me, they're not plug in and they're gonna match up, you need an adapter for it. I have like, 2. One thats a little 'board' and the other is a cable. Want to buy my carputer setup? LOL. I'll send it 100% complete. You will need a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. Plug it in and let it rip. HOWEVER. If you want my close to 3000 mp3s, that will cost a little more than without, lol.

(seriously, I wanna sell this one to do another)

yeah.if you dont do it right it wont look great.but thats how it is for most ppls first time like when building a box im sure it looked dirty asChristina Aguilara. but if you take your time and PLAN ahead you should be fine. 90% install and planning remember that.
