800a2 overrated??

For sure but back in 94 all I had was a VHS Camcorder lol, Digital Camera's were not even in the scene yet, I didnt get my first digi cam till late 90's sometime and it was freaking spendy, didnt do video though.
i have a device than can convert vhs over...i almost bought a vcr on clearance at radio shack for $39 that could do it also it had a usb out...

Thats MESHA its very effecent cooling if you were to touch the fets they would be warm but not hot like the sink, Its a really good cooling system. Takes 90% of the heat and puts it on the sink.
I wish I still had the video of us cooking a meat patty on a 200 DSM running 4ohm on 6 Punch Pro subs in the install bay lol, Amp got hot as hell but keeped right on going.
Was the customer pissed when he returned and found hamburger grease all over his amplifier?

Can't say anything about the 801S, but the birthsheet on my 800a2 was either 967@4ohm or 976@4ohm, wish I could find it as I still have the original box..

I am the un-named user lol

Yes the 801s is over rated. Back when they came out there was a ton of complaints along with many tests proving it was. I have (years ago) done some testing with them and I never seen them do over 700 watts of usable power.

The 800.2/a2/@2 were all very decent amps. Declining with each stage though.

Yeah , LOL. Like i said i didn't wanna call you out , cuz i had no real basis. Visuals don't mean **** , they look like the same amps internally but they definetly are not. I will go on record to say this USAcoustics at bare minimum is doing rated though , prolly more. I love this sucker and am glad to have gotten that 801S gone.

Glad it all worked out in the end for you.

i cant speak for all fosgate amps, but i feel my RF amp does the power its rated, but 1) it gets really hot, never stops working though 2) draws a lot from the electrical

its punch series, maybe the power doesnt do that as bad?

The best part is the USAcoustics seems to be a lot more efficient too. I still have some dimming , i know i need a battery , but its only dimming on initial slaps , doesn't pin my voltage gauge down to low 12's like the RF did. And i only have the Usacoustics turned up 1/3rd of the way. The fosgate had to be turned all the way up to get any respectable volume from it.

Naw it was a regular customer and he was upgrading told us to do what we wanted with his old equipment (guy had deep pockets). The burger juices cleaned up rather easy and the amp was turned into the shop BBQ Install Bay heater... (shop amp).

Guys, I recently benched my 800a2 before selling and here are my results:
