800 too much for 15" K?

The amp will most likely be run with 8 ga wire off of a distro block, so that'll limit the power a little.

Amp will probly be the Opti 800 watt D class amp.

thanks
I think Loyd said hes giving his K's 750 each...what kind of box is it in?

I dont have a box made yet, Im still in planning. yes, gains would definetly stay down.

another option would be to wore the Opti at 2 ohm instead of the 1 ohm that the 800 watts is rated at for that amp. the only problem with that would be that I would have no idea what actual wattage it puts out. I hear that they are a tad underrated, so I would estimate 600 at 2 ohm.

what size of box would it be safe in? sealed or ported?

i have a DEI 1100d on mine and it holds up fine;)

how long is the 8 gauge from the amp to the distro. block? also, how long is the wire from that block to the battery (and what gauge)

if its the SL800, then you shouldnt' worry about it. that amp isn't going to put out anywhere near 800 (about 500?). the only lanzars that has ever done well (put out its power and some more) are the OPTIdrive series. the SL800 has a 40A fuse. lets see...40x14.4 .....thats 576 watts. thats only IF the amp is 100% efficient, and for a fact i know that no car audio amp is 100% efficient. the best i've see is about 80-85.

well the SL800 actually has 2 fuses of some kind, it doesent say what amperage on the product page but it shows it in the pictures.

but thanks for informing me about the difference between an Opti and an Optidrive. I had no clue that there was a difference.

does anyone have a suggestion for an amp for a 15" K?

BTW, the distro block will have 4 ga running to the battery, aprox. 6 or 7 feet, and 8 gauge from there to the amp about 4 or 5 feet.

i believe they are going to ship it at the end of this month.

with 200-250, get a Lanzar OPTI1000.D amp. they are the ones that are underrated. great amps and you can find it on ebay for about $213 shipped (from audioblowouts)

get a dual 4ohm E15K and wire it in parallel. that would give a total load of 2ohm, which the amp is rated 700x1@2ohm i believe. a bit underrated so you should see 750-800? in that neighborhood
