8" subs in a s-10 extreme

So we are putting new subs in my friends s-10, and going with either 1 or 2 8"s. We were thinking of either the sundown sa-8 or 2 of the re rex 8's. Any opinions are welcome. I would think 2 of the re's would be louder because more cone area , but idk.

The RE's have about half the linear excursion and motor force so I would say the sa8 would be louder overall. What is the budget and what are you looking to achieve (spl or sq?)

Mainly spl, daily driver though. Trying to stay around $100. Mobile enclosure is designing the box for it. And it is a extended cab. I would think more cone area with 2 re's would be louder though.

I'd go with the SA8...or if you can find one within budget, a DD 1508.

SE are great daily drivers for what they are.

and MX as well was good..

I vote sa8. running 600rms to mine and it gets plenty loud for me.

Mobile said he would run it both ways to see which way would produce the best overall response, so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with. My friend is going from a older precision power 12" sub in a crappy prefab sealed box. But he is trying to save space and we can't fit a big box back behind his seat. He wants it to be as loud as the current setup. The pp sub is the old one with the flat front on it and the red bolt on it if you know about them. I have a picture of it on my profile page. It is ok, nothing stellar though.

so , i got a response back from mobile enclosures and found out that overall the 2 re rex 8's will have a better overall response than the single sa-8. The sa-8 is so much geared towards spl that it is hard to control without a bandpass box and space willnot allow for the bandpass. The 2 re's should actually perform really good over a much wider range of frequencys. The sa-8 only performs well in a small frequency range . So, we will be going with the 2 re's in the s-10 . should sound pretty good, excited to see.
