I've been driving my truck a lot more lately and the lack of legroom is starting to annoy me. I'm thinking about about changing my system a bit to make more room.

I already have the other components I want to use so the subs will have to work with them. The sub amp is an Audison LRx1.400 that makes 650w at 2ohms. Here's the other stuff:

Pioneer DEH-P780

Pioneer TS-C720PRS

Audison LRx4.300

I'm thinking of using four 8" subs that would have to be 2 or 8 ohms each to run my amp where I want to. I need to stay under 4.5" for mounting depth, and the budget is tight too. I'd like to keep it under $300 for all four and less would be better.

The system goals are to accurately reproduce music with the ability to play loud and low when I want to. I listen to mostly hardrock music. While I was in FutureShop the other day I heard them giving someone a demo with the Pioneer shallow mount sub and I was not impressed with the output at all, so I'd rather stick with the standard magnet design.

So far I've been considering the eD 9Kv.3 and the Kicker CompVR8. I would consider the RE8 and the Arc Audio ARC 8 but I can't find pricing on them. Do you have any opinions on those ideas or suggestions for other options?

Thanks.

Ever thought about doing those shallow mount 10's? Here's a link: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069929_297969808,00.html

They're VERY shallow!!! They almost HAVE to be louder than the 9kv2's....IMO, the 9kv2's are all SQ oriented. VERY little bass for the average bass head... I've used HUNDRED's of subs and the setup I have with the 9kv2's (which is 2 sealed running off 160 wts each) isn't very loud to me. Some songs it seems like the bass isn't even there!! Others they come in pretty strongly but still.

I was really disappointed by the shallow mount Pioneer when I heard it at Future Shop but I didn't check to see how much power it was running on or the box size. I'll go look into it some more tomorrow.

It seems kind of boring, but the Alpine Type-S 10" have a mounting depth of only 4-1/4". Do they ****?
