8" & 6.5 in door- what brands to use?

i'd say go with dayton because they have select 4ohm models

if you have the power to use an 8 ohm driver, you have lots more options

aurum cantus has a dual-8 ohm model if you wanted to slip into a 10"

I have heard the kicker ssmb8's and they sounded very nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
That's what I use, and I like them a lot....really shallow also.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Dayton 8" woofer, I would reccomend a DD W6.5 but it would most likely overpower the Dayton, Scanspeak 4" revelator mid, and then whatever for a tweeter. Great DIY setup.
i doubt with the right power that dayton wont keep up with the DD. also i love the revelator but you need more than a "whatever tweet" for that set-up.

Yes I know on the tweeter. I just said whatever tweeter because I don't know how well he could decifer between tweeters.

The dayton might keep up with the DD but that little 6.5 is known for being a beast.

I was thinking of using Alpine X and a decent 8" mid, I got subs in back... SQL setup

I wouldn't use a 6.5" comp set with an 8". Waste of space and money. You could easily get away with a cheaper 4" comp set or DIY 4" (or smaller, like 2" dome) and tweeter with an 8" midbass driver.

Much easier to install and cheaper on the wallet.
