780 Billion Dollar Stimulus Bill Passes Through Senate

Judging somebody on where they come from is kind of like judging somebody on the color of their skin...
You still say he is corrupt simply from where he is from?
He was not born in it but lets face it what environment did he learn to play politics in?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif People act like he has a ton of experience 1.5 terms as a Ill State Senator and half a term as a US Senator.....

I think Obama was a piss poor choice for our country...not going to go prejudging somebody because of where they were located though.

I would be 99% of all politicians have a dirty past at some point, unfortunately we can't call them on the carpet for it until we have facts, not just assumptions

He was born in Hawaii or Kenya...he didn't move to Chicago until after he fell in love with Rev Wright in the mid 80's....that is why I think it is so hilarious that Obama said he didn't know Wright was a radical.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Obama knew better than most
that isn't going to get him impeached though. he needs to make a mistake big enough for people to overlook his charisma. of course he has radical friends. even his wife wrote some college papers that were on the edge. and probable obama too. his college records and transcripts are sealed though, so we'll never know.

facts will be hard to comeby with this administration. obama already has NBC news CEO in his administration. the fairness doctrine would pretty much eliminate any actual news.

fairness doctrine is for talk radio.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

no. it's for all media. it just impacts talk radio more. the only television news that would be in trouble is FOX. the rest are liberal owned, and liberal leaning, which is fair in the view of liberals

liberal comentary is more biased than conservitive. when they get a comnservitive voice on air they say 2 things and get ran over by some tree hugging hippy who's last dose of reality was 30 minutes before an acid trip.

i understand what you're saying, but i'm missing the context in this conversation. and there is not technically such thing as "biased" commentary. it's opinion, not news. you're allowed to speak your ideas, and we're allowed to be on the radio/tv to speak those ideas, as long as enough people listen to it to make it profitable for a media group. it's biased news that sucks. keith oberman was a good example of skewing the news at nbc. katie couric is another good example. rush limbaugh doesn't try to pretend that he's the news. he's a conservative commentator. listen or don't. same rules apply to chris matthews at nbc. i disagree with his politics, but he doesn't pretend to be nbc news. he's a liberal commentator. couric, and others, are who annoy me. it's commentary, masquerading as news. that's what makes liberals annoying. liberals try to jam their ideas down your throat, even at the cost of their own alleged values.

I think the lack of confidence is a result of the bill that's been passed. It is surprisingly non-specific and key areas lack agreement.

The real problem is that if a stimulus is needed, then the larger it is, the sooner it is, the better. Accordingly, those in support of the stimulus want it passed quickly.

But how on earth do you proceed without even knowing what the value of toxic assets is that you'll be taking on? I am not steadfast against a stimulus (though I would prefer to go without one), but this stimulus package is crippled, in my opinion.

It's hardly a stimulus package. It's a democratic spending bill with about 10% stimulus.

Man it makes me angry how much bullshit he is saying and how people believe him. Not to mention, why the **** was he asked about his opinion on steroids in MLB? The press gave him another pass to look good by not asking any hard questions. The Fox news reporter there did call out Biden but Obama did what he does best - talk.

Anyways, I am for something that helps the economy but the Dems (mainly Pelosi) used this opportunity to advance the democratic/liberal ideology. Gladly though, there is resistance and people are starting to see the entirety of the bill as the criticism heats up.

Another thing that concerns me is there is a prevailing idea, especially in the housing market, that this stimulus should be used to boost that credit bubble again. I'm all for re-structuring existing mortgages and managing bad assets, but do they actually think that convincing people to do what they were doing before is the right approach?

The argument of lowering taxes or increasing spending is, to me, largely a question of which is easier to adjust in the future to avoid structural deficits (or surpluses). But lowering the tax would take effect right away and making credit available does not guarantee spending....in fact, it encourages the wrong kind of spending.

We'll see what the bill looks like by next Monday, but with each passing day I lose faith in Obama's ability to do what he said he would in a responsible manner.

there are no "earmarks" in this stimulus says Obama. How are there no earmarks? Charge the definition of earmaks as "an addition to the original bill.....so basically he is lying out of his ***.
