MDF 25 BUCKS particle 16.50. can the paerticle be braced and doubled on a small portd box ands get same performance as a single small mdf board box. i would seal the iside with some type of selant and brace or double panels as i m only building a 3 cuft enclosure fo two tens..tight on cash has anyone used the particle board. i have back in the day and friends did too.....is mdf louder?

MDF is just stronger than particle board. I think if you're not going to be using a lot of wattage, you should be OK...but I'm talking very low wattage here. You don't want the particle board vibrating/flexing. If you could double up the whole box on just one sheet, I say go for it.

But really you're only saving what, $8.50 by going with the particle board??? I'd recommend just getting the MDF at $25...that's just my opinion though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

mdf is $18/sheet at home depot where i'm at //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif price went down...need to stock up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

go mdf...easier to work with and stronger than particle board...but much heavier...if you want lighter go birch...but more monies, like $35/sheet:crap:

Thats cheap i get mdf at 25 and the birch is like 60

Hell, particle board worked back in the day just fine. I hated the cheap feel and annoying crumble effect while screwing into it but i never had a box break or rattle apart. I do love working with mdf now days, so much cleaner. if its a $9 diff then i would go withthe mdf for the headache but thats what i would do. I dont think your going to hate life and think the world is over if you use particle board. You will just be made fun of on ca.com.... as long as it sounds good and is sturdy then dont worry about it!!
