700 rms too much for Kicker cvr 12"?

I have a 700rms soundstream amp here, would thios be too much for one of these cvr's? Wired to 700rms x1 @ 2-ohms? It is a 4-ohm sub btw

If it's too much, is it possible to turn the amp down so it doesn't put out a full 700 rms?

what? you can't tell me that the SE is not a better sub than the CVR and when I got my SE in I cranked up the gain and blew the CVR's. Gotta say tho for as cheap as they are they handle abuse pretty well.

if you have two then why not hook them both up that way each is getting around 350?

why not use them both and use the whole 700watts to push them?

Because they are Dual 4-Ohm so I would need to wire them to 4-ohm or 1- ohm and the amp is not 1 ohm stable. Which leaves me only able to use 1 sub with that amp wired to 2-ohms..which is why i asked if 700 rms was too much for just one.

i believe you would have to wire each one to 8 ohms together so the amp would see a 2 ohm load.not exactly sure

If anyone knows if this is possible i'd appreciate it, I just hooked the amp up to 1 sub and it bangs but sometimes the soing will cut out for a few seconds..is this because it being given too much power?
