I am in the middle of completing my 2nd box. No pics however for some reason I used to be able to plug in camera and could get to the pics but no more...

anyways...I got some seven ply birch and it is far easier to work with imo than mdf. The only downside is that is costs $3.89 rather than $1.99 per damaged sheet. Multiply x 10 for regular cost. If you find some damaged, it is a good route. It is also a lot lighter.

4x8 sheets...at lowe's it is located right next to the mdf. It is also available in oak, which I haven't used but have some.

I am patient....everyday I watch and look at mdf, 7 ply birch and 7 ply oak... 1st week = 25% off, 2nd week = 50% off, 3rd week = 75% off, 4th week = 10 cents on the dollar. I end up with about 18 sheets per year in total. Sometimes the zone managers (assistant store managers) will accelerate the process if they are going to get walked and they don't want their bosses to see damaged wood laying around. They all have my cell phone...so they call and tell me to come and get it. I promised to buy any and all of those 3 types if they would call me first.

Ask for the cull cart. Sometimes it gets rained on but I already have the cashiers (whom I supervise) to take mdf, birch, or oak off the rack if it begins to rain. The other wood gets rained on, interior or exterior.

yeah...ask if they have a cull cart. They should use the same terminology but usually it is a blue cart with misc. wood on it. Some rotten, some broken, some warped. Sometimes there are doors on it as well.

lol i had one guy from HD cut a piece of molding today for 42 1/16 long he cut it 40.5" long i didnt notice till i got it home, freggin idiots

I dont see how you can **** so bad with the equipment they have. But somehow they find a way.

Like I have explained before. The saw is 1/8 to 1/4 inch off per 48". Tell them to cut it 1" bigger than normal and trim when you get home. The reason why it is off is because idiots or new folks saw in the wrong direction. Picture putting the wrong end of a circular saw and forcing it through the wood. It would jam and kick back but you pushed it harder. After a while, it tears up the saw. Also, the saws blade tends to warp over tim (even in normal use) thus further hurting cuts.

As for cutting the wrong size, people make mistakes, misunderstand ect. After cutting many boards throughout the day, the numbers tend to run together.
