i used to call them heaters because they run at full tilt all the time, and get really hot even if they are not producing any sound....

No, it's not.

That amplifier would have an idle current draw of 167A under ideal conditions if it were pure class A. That's with no signal. Just turning it on would draw 167A, constantly, and under ideal conditions (maximum efficiency for class A operation & 14.4V power source).

No, it does not operate it's entire range under class A operation. It might operate in class A for the first few watts (just like any other class A/B amplifier). But that is wholly different than calling it a "true class A" amplifier.

this amp is absolutely not 'pure class a'. that heatsink is nowhere near sufficient to continuously support that much heat. btw, critical mass website says nothing about these being class a...

u gotta be nuts the best??? really??? why dont they have ppl wining meca, iasca and world finals..critical mass that is. soundstream, mtx, kicker. if u want to say sq or sql, Fi, ascendant audio, emeinence, jl. that price is out landish 4 real.

Meh.....won't sound any different than an amplifier of the same power & frequency response with a damping factor of 100, SNR of 90db and a THD of 1%.

ya really, im probably to deaf to realize how great that amp might be. One day when i make to much money to care what i buy. Then ill think about getting that, but probably not...maybe some mlk 3's and some other crap that 8000 could buy. 8000 could buy like 106 high end amsterdaam hookers... 15 min's a pop, thats like over a day of pure ***...worth much more than this amp...probably not worth the diseases ill get.....sorry im rambling
