6x9's for bass??

i have to take out my sx for college, and was wondering if i put some jl 6x9's in a little sealed box under my back seats, will i get a bass or am i better off buying a cheap 8 that i can hide and call it a day? i don't really want to have to amp something though...

go with a pair of 8's in small ported boxes,and a tiny amp.

I would probably go for the 6x9's but that's just me.

if u want bass, 8 is nice small amp, dont try 2 get bass from a speaker u jus wont b as satisfied

He's reffering to 6x9 coaxials, their are 6x9 subs that ARE for bass. Hes just saying dont expect 6x9 coaxials to play with authority in the subbass frequencies.

6x9s do fairly well for bass. Now i know its no sub but they ar e good alternative method for acheiving the sound of bass without taking up any room and adding amps. Even coaxial ones do well.

A lot of premium stock systems have two 6x9 midbass drivers. My friend's G-35 has an amazing amount of bass coming out the the Bose 6x9's... I thought there was a 10" sub in there

And plus, what do you expect from speakers that are putting out midrange and bass. Note i said the "sound" of bass, not that "pressure in your chest" bass. For my dad ebing able to hear basslines and kick drums clearly(and with more authority) is a good thing, it is for me too but i just like alot more of it.
