my family got me new speakers and they are 6x9" sony speakers...i like them and want to keep them. But on my rear deck i have 6 1/2" speakers. i heard that all i need to do is simply use the templete they gave me with the speakers to make the hole large enough to fit the new speaker... Is this true or should i just try to return them and get 6 1/2" speakers???

return them and get a good set of speaks that fit---alot of ppl will tell you just to get a good set of comps up front and leave the rear out but if you like rear stage fill like i do then go for it.

Agreed, return them for 6.5" speakers. Prefereably not Sony. I know you said they sound good to you, but listen to a Pioneer 6.5" speaker, and make sure it doesn't sound *infinitely* better to you before getting more Sony stuff. I bought my older bro some 6.5" JVC Coaxials, and they KILL, absolutely KILL, my Sony 6.5 coaxials.
