I bought a set of 6.5" alpine type R components for my grand prix, and I dont think im gonna be able to make the bigger 6.5 fit properly in the door. So, I might pick up a 5.25" set and just use the crossover/tweeters int he back as well.

So, has anybody ever taken the 6x9's out in favour of a 6.5 component set? I'd have to make a small box to put under them in the trunk, and make up a tweeter mount on the rear deck lid, but just wondering if it would be worth my time.

rear fill is necessary depending on YOUR application. if you just want some tunes and have rear passengers, some rear fill is nice. if it is usually just you in the front, id spring for better speakers up front and nix the back. it really comes down to what you want and how you like it.
