6x8 suggestions for my taurus

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus SES Deluxe Version. Anyways, I'm fairly sure that it takes 6"x8" speakers, but I don't know if my car has the 4 speakers or 6 speakers. Also, what speakers would you recommend for a good stage? I'm going to have a 15" SDC2.5 in my trunk, with the sub and port both firing into the trunk. Thanks!

Your tweeters will be in the sail panels if you have them.

I ran infinity reference 6820cs component set when I had my 1997 taurus.

unless you have the mach audio system you only have 4 6x8's. and I just have some alpine coaxials in mine.

My 3rd gen did not have the MACH amp but I had the 6 speaker system. Unless the 4th gen is different.

3rd gens can have the jbl system instead of the mach, the mach was an option.

Only the 1996 taurus had the option for the JBL system. All it added was a 6x9 sub in the rear deck. After that it was either MACH or no MACH.

The MACH amp is definitely worth it if the OP doesnt have it and wants to remain stock. Sends each speaker 20wRMS vs. the stock RCU only putting out I think 3wRMS.

stock rcu puts out 5 watts rms iirc. but yeah either way he needs an upgrade.

And any 6x8's work? Would these be good? Pioneer TS-A6882R A-Series 6"x8" 4-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com

Or should I go alpine with something like these? Alpine SPR-57C 5"x7" 2-way car speakers For 5"x7" and 6"x8" openings at Crutchfield Signature

These plastic bits are the sail panels.

Those will be fine if you arent looking to spend a bunch of money.I wouldnt buy from crutchfield though.

I havnt heard these personally. But Ive heard good things about them. A nice step above those pioneers you listed for a bit cheaper.

I have those plastic things in my car. Are there tweeters inside them, cause I didn't think I saw anything, although it does have that little black bump in it.

You probably dont have the tweeters then. I cant find any pictures of what they look like with tweeters.

If there isnt any sound coming out of them. There isnt a speaker there..
