6" subs; can they "drop"?

I was just looking at the jl w3v3 6" subs, and I was just wondering could d a 6" sub in general drop like a say 10" or 12" sub. I'm sure the sound qulaity couldn't compare, or the spl. I have factory boston acoustic 6x9 in my 08 dodge avenger, they hit but distort when I turn them up or when there is low sub bass. Would it be any better with a 6" sub? Could it take the place of a sub?

that your factory amp running out of steam, adding another amp and sub may help, look on partsexpress at tangbands, they have beefy 6's

Put some bass blockers on those factory 6x9's they are crossed over way to low.

wont help, his factory is running out of power, fairly common, they sound good and bass is ok but when you crank it the amp clips

The SLS 6.5s that I run as midbass play pretty well down to 40hz before they run out of suspension. They are labeled as a midwoofer/subwoofer on the manufacturer website, and they can handle my LP 2.2HV no problems.

I heard 4 6" or 6.5" TangBands in a Civic with a custom enclosure . It got pretty "low" sounded VERY clean.
