in addition, this fear mongering has been a staple of all negative campaigns against recumbents since at least the 60's. Not confined to either party. It is simply 'low hanging fruit'

Have you noticed that he is persona non grata by EVERY republican candidate?

They won't even speak his name, let alone seek his endorsement.

Do you know why?

Because he is political poison right now, as is just about everyone that was in his cabinet.

I think this distancing is a first in presedential election campaigns, at least since Nixon.
