6 cubes @ 32 hz for 3 12" Rockford Punch HX2

Have you ever tried doing your braces like a "T" instead of flat against the walls? Normally that's MUCH stronger and they'd only need to be about 1 1/2". Or do you think it would disrupt airflow through the box too much?
Looks nice as always, and the questions are just to learn from your experience. I'm going to be building a BIG box for 2 MJ-18's in a few weeks and trying to decide the easiest way to brace it. Sorry for the thread jack...
Not a problem man on the thread jack.

IonSQL did the design, and I will guarantee he knows more about this aspect than I do. Im sure he will jump in here. Its things like this, is the reason I leave the designs up to him. I trust him 100%. So I have no problem building whatever he draws up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

They're fine how they are. If you didn't have dowels, he'd be right, but it's supplementary bracing instead of primary.

I don't doubt that the T brace would be stronger, but I feel that the bracing that is on the back wall is more than sufficient to prevent flex.

Plus, I've never been a big fan of the way the wood protrudes into the box when using T braces, too much chance of disturbing the airflow IMO. If someone can tell me that's not the case, then by all means I'll turn that puppy 90 deg... but otherwise I'll stick with the bracing the way it is.

Dude, you have no idea what you're doing. Why the hell didn't you use birch?
On a serious note, one of your best I've seen.
I dont need teh PLYWOOD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Thanks though man. Im liking this box as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Bingo. The concept of a shelf brace is excellent. Airflow is a problem though. They create turbulence inside. Air is a fluid, so let's compare it to water. If you have a stream of water and stick a wall in the middle of it, it's going to create a pocket behind it (turbulence) which disrupts the flow. If it's round, then not so much. Problem with dowels though is that they don't have much surface area.

Finished....
