6.5" components with 2 1/8" mounting depth?

My weak 1990 honda civic won't properly accomidate the 2 1/2" mounting depth of my components even with a 3/4" MDF mounting ring. The speaker cover will not pop onto the doorpanel.

So I'm looking for something with a 2 1/8" mounting depth or less.

I have Crystal CSC60S comps now, so I would want something with comparable sound quality.

I know that the Diamond Audio M661 comps are 2 1/8". Any others?

Some of the higher end DLS speakers might be close to that. What about making some kickpanels?

the 1990 Honda Civic is too cramped for kickpanels. If I had kicks in there I would be kicking them all the time!~go figure. So kickpanels are out unfortunately. I can do some modification to the speaker cover. It would need to be raised up 1/4" on the lower ends.

what is in the way behind the speaker? A window track?

Did you cut out the plastic rain shield behind the speaker? Most Hondas are listed as only having 2 1/8" mounting clearance but that figure can be bumped up to approximately 3" if you remove the back of the rain shield. You can make some kind of makeshift item to perform the same function.

The rainshield is gone. I removed it to mount the speaker. Even with the rainshieid gone, the mounting depth is 1 3/4"+.

If I went with 1/2" MDF the magnet would hit the window.

5/8 could possibly work but I don't have any of that lying around.
