1 Pair of 6.5 Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 Components Review
Background
Let me start off by saying I really used to value Infinity and their line of coaxial speakers until I ran into some damage on the cone due to my 13w7 back when I had my Taurus. I’ve ran everything from their 5x7s all the way to their kappa line. With the perfects, I’m feeding them roughly 75-85 watts rms all day. The rms given on the speaker is actually 100 watts but given my price range and the power I had these were the only speakers that I was considering. I upgraded to these speakers from the image dynamics 6.5 2ohms components. Yes, I did say the word upgrade. The cross over is built in a sturdy case with easy mounting options on the back (I chose Velcro). Having played around with the positioning of these speakers in both front and rear stage I’ve come to the decision its time for the review.
Subjective
Good
Nice Mid *** and clear overall sound. The tweeter isn’t too bright yet isn’t extremely soft either. I’d say its about 60% bright and 40% soft giving you a great deal of detail in various songs. The tweeter is small enough to fit in most stock locations. The woofer is a nice bulky size and you’re going to get some kind of bass out of these things second skin or not!
Bad
Infinity doesn’t have another line that uses the same tweeter. This is bad if you want to have front and rear stage with perfects in the front and kappas in the rear – you’ll run into somewhat of a different sound. I guess these leaves you with either A having to get 6.5s in front and 5.25s in rear or B risking going with no rear stage or some other brand.
Overall
I rate these speakers at a great 87%. For the money I consider them the best you can buy on the market brand new w/a 1 yr warranty. I believe that the price is in the $225USD range for these things online and let me tell you – if you want good quality sound where there’s a clear balance b/w highs and mids then these speakers are for you. Again, if I were ask to recommend these speakers or buy them again I’d do it without even thinking about it.
enjoy!
